About the event
In honor of Women's History Month ending, we are launching a new annual exhibition called the
Catherine Flon Honors, celebrating the legacy of remarkable, Revolutionary Women in Buffalo.
Catherine Flon (1772-1831) was a Haitian seamstress (a creative spirit), patriot (embodying
strength), and national heroine (fearless and innovative), renowned for sewing the first
Haitian flag. She is a powerful symbol of the Haitian Revolution and independence, and holds
a special place in Haitian history. As a Haitian immigrant himself, Yves-Richard Blanc has
